Sopore, Dec 26 (KNS): Media Association Sopore on Sunday held elections to elect the President, Vice President and Spokesperson of the Sopore Media Association (SMA) here in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Ballot-based polls and nomination process were held at Dak Bunglow, Sopore which started from 12 o'clock to 2 pm for the posts of president which witnessed 100 percent polling.

After due processes, Waris Fayaz, Media Association Sopore spokesman said, Showket Mohi u Din Lone @ Shah Ji has been elected as president, Lone Mehraj as vice president while Secretary and general secretary will be discussed in the upcoming meeting. 

The election process and declaration of results were conducted and observed by senior journalists of North Kashmir and administrative officials. The entire process was held under the supervision of Abdul Rashid Parveen, a famous writter. 

Speaking on the ocassion, Showket Lone, newly president said that Journalism is a noble profession and every journalist should work honestly to make the fourth estate strong and uphold its dignity. 

Meanwhile all the working journalists of Sopore were present on the occasion including, Bilal Ahmed Bhat, Lone Mehraj, Mohammad Younis, Syed Fayaz, Peerzada Junaid, Saleem Qadri, Waris Fayaz, Kousar Arafat, Peerzada Tahir, Bilal Dar, Shabir Ahmed Dar, Malik Nissar, Showket Shah and Jahengir Ahmed Khan.
