Says average people heaving sigh of relief over progress, tourism boom

Srinagar, July 15 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Friday said that some people are dissatisfied with the peace, tourism boom, and constant progress in the Union territory, thus they continue to try to antagonise security personnel in an effort to trigger street demonstrations.


Talking to reporters at SKICC after the launch of District Export Plans, Sinha said that while average people are heaving a sigh of relief because of the progress in J&K, some individuals aren’t satisfied with the current calm environment, tourist boom, and development taking place in the UT. 

He said that every district of J&K is blessed to have local products with potential to go global, while 9 GI tagged products, more than 50 export potential products have been identified and institutional mechanism is created in all the districts to provide support for export promotion. 

The LG futher said that J&K has emerged as a top performer, reaching 3rd position among UTs in Export Promotion Index and improving 13 positions in overall ranking. 

“With its rapidly growing economy, expanding market and industrial base, J&K is determined to construct a strong edifice of export ecosystem,” he added. 

He said that the dream of economic growth, aspirations of youth can be fulfilled only in conditions of peace. “In pursuit of development objectives, society must play a vital supportive role to foil the efforts of adversaries & isolate anti-social elements.” 

LG Sinha also said that they are not only aiming to take J&K export from Rs 1845 Crore to Rs 5000 Crore, but they are also resolute to build a better future for the youth and a society free of inequality & unemployment. 

“We, therefore, seek to make every citizen an equal partner in development journey," he said. (KNS)
