Srinagar, September 19 (KNS): A joint team of Food Safety department and Police today sealed a shop and imposed fine of Rs 10000 for selling expired items.
An official informed Kashmir News Service (KNS), that that action was taken on basis of a complaint received from a Municipal Corporator that expired food items were being sold in a shop at Saidakalad Srinagar.
Taking strong cognizance of the complaint, the concerned Food Safety Officer seized food items worth Rs. 10000 and lifted two samples for laboratory analysis. The shop was sealed for further investigation, he added.
All food business operators have being directed not to sell any food article whose best before date has elapsed otherwise action under relevant provisions of Food Safety and Standards Act shall be initiated against them.(KNS)
