‘I thank Almighty Allah for giving us chance to celebrate Eid without Covid-19 restrictions’

SRINAGAR, May 01 (KNS) : Former Deputy Mayor SMC and People’s Conference State Youth President Sheikh Mohammad Imran on Sunday conveyed warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr while praying for amity, prosperity and brotherhood.

In a statement issued here, Imran expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for once again delivering a chance to the people to celebrate Eid with fervor in a considerably Covid-19 free atmosphere.

“It is a great blessing that once again devotees can pray in congregations after two long years of Covid-19 restrictions.  However, this shouldn’t make us complacent as the pandemic has not ended yet. Requisite guidelines need to be followed in letter and spirit. I also urge the youth and elderly alike to get vaccinated in case they have not received the imperative jabs in order to win over this deadly contagion,” he said.

Imran impressed on the government agencies to put a vigilant check on the markets while ensuring that people are not being forced to pay exorbitant prices for the essential commodities. “Adulteration, black marketing and hoarding are some of the key malpractices that need to be obliterated as these factors are responsible for spurts in basic amenities that directly hits the common man where it hurts most. Our markets must be purged off these abuses and institutionalized guidelines should be made to follow in letter and spirit. Besides, the administration must also ensure that an ample supply of water and electricity is maintained on this sacred occasion,” he remarked.

Thanking the administration for allowing Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at historical Jamia Masjid, Imran said the devotees have always maintained a spiritual connect with this mosque and this is a commendable step to recognize its pristine glory. (KNS)
