Srinagar, November 1 (KNS) Sheikh Mohammad Imran on Tuesday called on Mirwaiz Kashmir Molvi Umar Farooq to join mainstream for the sake of people who have relentlessly suffered for over three decades because of political distability.
In a statement issued to KNS, Imran said it is a humble & respectful appeal to the most revered religious personality in Kashmir who has always had strong emotional connection with the common people.
"Three decades and still peace isn't visible in J&K but I am sure that Umar sahibs political acumen and gentle heart which has always condemned the bloodshed has immense potential to bring about a positive change that can deliver people of J&K from their existing miseries," he said.
Imran said that while keeping his religious stature in consideration it is not imperative that he should contest the elections by himself but coming to mainstream will open a window of opportunity for peace to sustain in the valley that is ridden with stories of blood & despair.
"He should for the sake of his people give mainstream a chance to revert the valley to its old amiable environment where values of spirituality & brotherhood were cherished for centuries altogether," he said.
Imran said that he knows if Mirwaiz will accept his humble request he will live up to the expectations of people & will ensure that all the corruption & exploitation done by previous successive governments in the erstwhile State will not be repeated for another time.
"It is high time for a change where we need to move onto get our land & people out of mess of exploitation. There is no point in maintaining a meaningless status quo which only adds to the problems of our society and gives chance to family politicians to rule for their self interests," he said.
Imran urged that society direly needs the able guidance of Mirwaiz Kashmir at a time when corruption, drugs and moral degradation have eaten into the vitals of our pristine society.
"This is my hand-folded appeal to Mirwaiz sahib to take a step towards ending the miseries of people and join mainstream to end this political logjam for the betterment of the future of the people of J&K," he added. (KNS)
