Srinagar Feb 25 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State women's wing President Shameema Firdous on Saturday presided over a provincial level meeting of women's wing functionaries at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.

Provincial President women's wing, Kashmir Er. Sabiya Qadri among other provincial level functionaries, office bearers and workers were also present on the occasion.

According to a statement issued to KNS, the meeting was marked by threadbare discussions on the prevailing political situation, unemployment, development deficit, inflation, imposition of property tax, demolition drive and undergoing activities of women's wing.

The functionaries also highlighted rising tide of drug addiction and other issues concerning society particularly women.

Echoing with the sentiments of the functionaries, Shameema said that the present situation across Jammu and Kashmir was the direct fallout of the centers policies. "Our people are bristling with anger. Unemployment, outsourcing of jobs and contracts, sluggish recruitment, development deficit, widespread unaccountability, imposition and slashing of several taxes, cancellation of selection lists, sky rocketing inflation, poor facilities in hospitals and shortage of ration at FCCI defines today's Kashmir. BJP cannot run away from its responsibility. BJP owes an answer to our contractual, need based , Rehbar-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Zirat, and Rehbar-e-Khel employees, and Aganwari workers who continue to run from pillar to post to have their grievances redressed," she said.

She said that thousands of daily wagers, contractual, need based workers and other temporary employees are not getting their wages regularly and are agitating on roads, who were promised regularisation by BJP. "They failed to come to rescue of artisans, traders, shop keepers, transporters ,and hawkers, who are yet to recover from the economic slump induced by successive instead lock downs. Both the central and UT administration is only providing mere lip service to these aggravated sections," she added.

In her address to workers Sabiya Qadri said, "Kashmir had suffered badly in the last 8 years. The policies of incumbent government have only resulted in increasing the sufferings of the people manifold. Their is no public scrutiny of laws, locals have no say in the legislation process. We are going through a difficult phase and need of the hour is to strengthen the hands of Dr Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah to steer the region from the quagmire it finds itself in," she added.
