Urges Administration to make available basic facilities in far flung areas

Banihal, Dec 27 (KNS): National Conference leader and District president Ramban, Sajjad Shaheen today conducted extensive tour to Village Kawna, Bawah, Arimarg and Mahu in tehsil Khari and took stock of the situation arisen after the onslaught of winter in the remote and far flung areas.

He met people from different shades of life and enquired about their day today problems. The locals apprised him about erratic power supply in far-off areas of the Banihal Assembly constituency besides scarcity of drinking water in several villages.

Shaheen said the road connectivity to Khari -Mahu and Banihal -Mangit roads remains mostly closed for weeks after every snowfall and the delay in clearance of snow badly impacts the mobility and adds to the miseries of the people living in these villages. He particularly referred to Khari -Mahu Mangit road, Banihal-Mangit road and Chamalwas-Neel-Chaknarwa road, Banihal-Hinjhal road saying the administration must make serious arrangements for restoration of these roads during the snow fall.

He said the developmental activities have come to grinding halt and many projects launched during the NC Government have either been abandoned or put in back-burner thus depriving the people of benefits.

Shaheen expressed anguish over dilapidated condition of roads, erratic power and drinking water supply, scarcity of rations and availability of essential commodities in these areas.

He said the people are suffering hugely during the onslaught of winter as most of the areas kept reeling under darkness and deprived of drinking water facilities.

He further said that complaints about defunct utility services have also been received from Khari-Trigam, Mahoo-Mangit, Neel, Pogal-Paristan, Sumar, Sarachi, Bajmasta, Chaka, Sarbagni, Bingara, Kumbla, Maligam, Arimarg, Buzla Senabati and Tanka.

Shaheen also drew the attention of the L/Governor lead administration towards deficiencies in Education and Health sectors and sought immediate filling up of vacant posts as also stocking of adequate quantity of medicines in the Health institutions particularly in far flung areas. 

Later, Shaheen also went to village Bawa where a young boy had died in a tragic road accident on Mahu road near Arimarg. He urged upon the Governor and the District administration to sanction ex-gratia relief in favour of the NoKs of the deceased. 

Tehsil president Khari Gulam Hassan Naik, Block president Khari Mohamed Ashraf Naik, block president Neel Gulam Rasool Daing, block secretary Khari Farooq Ahmed Goth, Block vice Mohamed Anwar Naik besides Abdul Hamid Khan, Chodhary Atya Kal ,Bashir Ahmed Panch also accompanied the leader. (KNS)
