Several villages in Handwara’s Mawer without drinking water

Handwara, Jan 07 (KNS): The residents of various villages of Mawer locality of Handwara on Saturday complained that they were without drinking water for the last six days. 

Locals told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that residents of Shahnagri, Banpora, Bhat Mohalla, Asataan Mohalla, Kumar Mohalla are without drinking water for the last six days.

They said they were being forced to fetch water from nearby streams which exposes them to threat of water borne diseases.

They also alleged at some places water pipes were lying above the ground due to which they freezes during harsh winter season. 

”We have many times apprised the officials of Jal Shakti Department but nothing has been done so far to address their genuine grievances,” he said. 

They have appealed to the authorities to restore drinking water facility at an earliest. (KNS)
