Sericulture Dept J&K Flags Off Exposure Tour for 40 Silkworm Rearers Under Skill Development Initiative

Srinagar, October 4 (KNS) : As part of its continuous efforts to promote skill development and capacity building in the field of Sericulture, the Department of Sericulture, J&K, under the able leadership of Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, IAS, Director Sericulture J&K, has initiated a series of exposure tours for Silkworm Rearers, Farmers, Youth, and Tribals from across the Union Territory.

In this direction, an exposure tour comprising 40 farmers was flagged off today. The program is aimed at familiarizing the participants with innovative practices, modern techniques, and scientific advancements being adopted in Sericulture activities across different States and Union Territories of the country.

These exposure visits are designed to serve as a catalyst for acquainting participants with both pre-cocoon and post-cocoon technologies, thereby equipping them with practical knowledge and enhancing their technical know-how. Speaking on the occasion,Bhat, highlighted that such initiatives provide farmers and rearers an opportunity to gain hands-on training, interact with experts and learn best practices that can be effectively replicated back home. He emphasized that the Department is committed to empowering farming communities and youth through capacity building, thereby creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of the Sericulture sector.

The ongoing series of exposure tours will cover a wide spectrum of participants, including farmers, rearers, youth, and members of tribal communities, ensuring inclusive growth and wider outreach of Sericulture development in the Union Territory.

The program has been received with great enthusiasm by the participants, who expressed optimism that the learning from these tours will help them adopt modern scientific approaches in their practices, ultimately leading to enhanced productivity and income generation.(KNS)
