Srinagar, May 5 (KNS): Cautioning people to maintain the highest level of precautions to beat the deadly virus, Kashmir's Grand Mufti, Nisar Ul Islam Wednesday urged the people of the valley to self impose the restrictions and ensure needy people are not made to suffer for want of required things. 

He asked people not to venture outside unnecessarily unless very important.  

He said that People must maintain the highest level of precautions at all the places and the localities where cases of COVID-19 are reported and urged them to remain confined to their homes only to contain the spread of infection. 

"Avoid all social gatherings and Non-Government Organisations (NGO's) must facilitate people with a required stock and medical items also the Masjid (Mosque) committees are requested to follow the same pattern and facilitate the native people with requirements", Nisar Ul Islam said. 

He impressed that Well off people should spend a portion of the Zakat (Charity) to buy the oxygen cylinders and all that supposed to be procured amid the pandemic for treatment of the patients. Besides, they must reach out to the people in need who have no source of income amid the closure of all avenues, he said. 

He said that the administration should announce a package for the people here in Jammu and Kashmir same as announced by the Kejriwal-led government in Delhi. 

He maintained that almost all the sectors here are hit including the Houseboat, Shikara operators,   and even the poor and labourers have no option left with them including drivers, daily wagers, vendors, and others.  

"People must take appropriate efforts for the survival and Masjid Committees should create Bait-Ul-Mals to collect donations for the needy people and they should also ensure self-imposed restrictions to contain the spared of deadly coronavirus", Grand Mufti said. 

"If there are apprehensions somewhere that offering prayers at local Masjid will lead to virus transmission people should offer prayers at their homes only and take proper precautions", he said.(KNS)
