SEBCC asks political parties to appear themselves before commission to present their point of view

Srinagar, June 28 (KNS): The Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission has asked the various political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to appear before the commission in order to present their point of view and submissions before the commission. 

 

In a notice, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), the commission has asked various political parties of J&K to appear before the commission to present their point of view/submissions before the Commission between the dates as mentioned in the the notice and before the Commission finalises its interim report. 

 

The commission was constituted in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir vide Govt Order No. 2030-JK(LD) of 2020 dated 19-03-2020.

 

The commission is supposed to determine the criteria to be adopted in considering any section of the people in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as Socially and Educationally backward classes, using the criteria to examine the current list of socially and educationally backward classes notified by the Government from time to time for inclusion or exclusion of such classes in the list of socially and educationally backward classes.

 

“Using the criteria to examine inclusion of other socially and educationally backward classes in the list of socially and educationally backward classes.” 

 

As per the notice the commission has to categorise the socially and educationally backward classes and examine the safeguards that should be provi9dwed to ensure balance and orderly development of all sections and classes of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir;

 

“To examine the overall question of providing reservation for recruitment to various posts under the Government and or selections to various posts consistent with the need of ensuring the efficiency in administration and minimum standards for job requirements.”

 

It states that the commission has to present to the J&K UT government to submit report(s) setting out the facts as found by the Commission and making such recommendations as it thinks proper for categorization of socially and educationally backward classes, as aforesaid and providing reservation for them and other communities.

 

“Any other matter which the Commission finds necessary to be considered and opine arising out of the aforesaid Terms of Reference.”

 

The Commission is supposed to make its final recommendations within a period of two years.

 

It states that the Commission is already in the process of reaching out to various categories of populace of the Union Territory viz-a-viz Castes/Classes/Communities/ Categories and consider their submissions in support of their claim(s).

 

Th notice stated that as political entity representing the people of the Union Territory, it is expected your valuable suggestions and inputs will help to achieve the aims and objects set out for the Commission while finalizing its Report.  

 

“As such, you are requested to attend this Commission in person or through authorized representative or may like to send your suggestions/ inputs in writing,” the notice reads. (KNS)
