Scores of delegations call on Sagar, Nasir, Apprises party functionaries about widespread administration inertia in their localities

Srinagar, 09 January (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar on Saturday met scores of delegations who had called on him here at Party Head quarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar from different parts of Kashmir Province.

In a statement issued to news agency-kashmir news service(KNS), The visiting delegations apprised the party general secretary about the plethora of problems which the people are facing in their respective areas. On the occasion Party’s Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, and Provincial Secretary Showkat Mir were also present. Later various delegations thronged the party headquarters from north , central and south Kashmir district and apprised the party general secretary and provincial president about the ordeal which people in their localities are facing in wake of the administration’s failure to restore basic amenities including power and electricity supply and road connectivity post snowfall.

While ruing the administrative inertia in their respective areas, the visiting delegations said that the snow covered lanes and inundated market places in their respective areas divulge the letdown of the district level and divisional administration to come to terms with the weather vagary. They said that the post snowfall relief, and restoration process seemingly wasn’t in the to-do-list of administration, which they said was missing in action ever since it snowed. They said that it had been 6th day since Kashmir province received season’s first snowfall but the administration according to them was yet to swing its men and machinery into action to restore all the civil and basic amenities including water and electricity to people.  The delegations said that they had been making rounds of the local district offices to stir the slumber ridden administration but all their pleas fell on deaf ears.

The visiting delegation said the heavy snowfall has incurred heavy damages to public and private properties in their areas, and that the situation warranted both long and short terms measures to restore it. “The major brunt has been taken by the power transmission lines, power transformers, and conductor wires.  Adding to the mounting problems of people is the shortage of water,” they said.

The delegation said the administration has also failed to stock the essential commodities including medicines, LPG, Kerosene, and other edibles. “Due to absence of any checks by CAPD department and nonappearance of flying squads the far-flung areas are witnessing spine breaking price rise. The suffering of poor people continues unabated on that account also. The administration is not taking any steps to check the price rise and black-marketing,” they said

The delegations from Habakadal, Khanyar, Eidgah, Amirakadal, Sonawar, Batamaloo, and Hazratbal rued water-logging, prolonged outages, blocked and inundated roads and shortage of edibles. They apprised the general secretary and provincial president about the widespread unaccountability in hospitals and absence of medics from primary health care centers in suburbs. They said the departments assigned with snow clearance, de-watering and garbage management in Srinagar are not visible on ground and least watchful of the issues faced by people.

The party general secretary and provincial president gave a patient hearing to the recounting of the visiting delegation and assured them that the party will continue to raise the issues concerning people at all appropriate forums. The duo said that the party leaders have been impressing upon the district and divisional administration through various media to expedite their response so that the people do not have to undergo any predicaments (KNS).
