SBSP's Wajahat Raina questions govt over Bandipora pedestrian pathway funds, seeks accountability

Bandipora, Mar 15(KNS): Wajahat Raina, North Kashmir in-charge of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), on Sunday demanded a probe by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) into the alleged misuse of government funds in connection with the pedestrian pathway near Ziyarat Shareef of Subhan Sahib in Gundpora village of Arin block in Bandipora district.

In a statement, Raina said the reported damage to the pathway and the alleged theft of tiles during the night has raised serious questions about the functioning of the administration and the monitoring of development works in the area.

He said it was disturbing if a public asset created with government money could be damaged within a short period, adding that such incidents point towards lapses in supervision and accountability at the local level.

“If infrastructure built with public funds is being damaged and the same site is again projected for fresh works, it raises serious doubts about how development projects are being handled,” Raina said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The SBSP leader said the government must clarify the circumstances under which the incident occurred and identify those responsible for damaging the public property.

He also urged the Anti-Corruption Bureau to examine the entire execution of development works in the block to determine whether any irregularities or attempts to misuse public funds had taken place.

Raina said public money is meant for the welfare of people and any attempt to misuse development funds or tamper with public infrastructure should invite strict action.

He further said the government must ensure stronger monitoring of development projects so that such incidents do not occur and the confidence of people in public institutions is maintained.(KNS).
