Urges people not to fall to divisive agenda

Srinagar, Sept 23 (KNS): Reconciliation Return & Rehabilitations of Migrants chairman, Satish Mahaldar has questioned the timing of protest being launched against the opening of Reliance retails stores in Jammu and region and calling for Jammu bandh, while urging the people not to fall to the divisive agenda and be united.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that he had give a call for all to come together and fight for the rights. “I also gave a call to help get refugee Kashmiri Pandit families back to their homes.”

He said that, however, a year later, when rumours of outside companies opening shops here are happening, some organisations woke up.

“I question the timing. Why are they waking up now? Is it because the elections may happen? Why have these people who are calling for bandh now, not reacted earlier ? It seems that much like the political parties like the PAGD, and others, they also have an agenda,” he said.

Mahaldar said that PAGD and like-minded parties want Article 370 back, do these people who are giving bandh calls today also want Article 370 back?

“I suspect that there is a hidden agenda, otherwise why have they been quiet after the abrogation of Article 370 or stripping J&K of its status. They welcomed the abrogation of Article 370 and are now seeking the same,” he said.

He also called upon the people and parties to rise above pettiness and save J&K and its people including the refugee Kashmiri Pandits.

“Let us unite and fight for special protective status for our land and not fall prey to the divisive agenda of some. We have to protect our land, jobs, culture and people,” he further said. (KNS)
