Rajouri, Aug 29(KNS): Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shavan has imposed ban on sale of plastic/nylon (manja) thread used for kite flying in Rajouri district on Sunday

In an order issued by DC Rajouri a copy of which lies with Kashmir News service (KNS),  reads, whereas the kite flying season/ festival is going on and will continue for some time in Rajouri district and whereas , it has been observed that the plastic/nylon (manja) thread are being  used/sold for kite flying in violation of SRO 126 dated 07.04.2016, which imposes ban on procuring , stocking and use of plastic /nylon strings (manja). 

It also reads, whereas the use of plastic /nylon manja threads instead of traditional kite flying cotton threads involves thread to live of bird and human lives which is evident from past reports and cases record during previous kite flying festivals/seasons .

The order reads , whereas it is imperative to insure safety of childeren who participated in kite flying and also to prevent danger to birds and initiate necessary measure accordingly.

Any violation of this order shall attract punitive action as warranted under relevant law , it reads.(KNS).
