Sagar review underway preparations for 13 July Martyrs day; 11th July Death Anniversary of Madre Meharban

Srinagar July 07 (KNS):  The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Thursday termed 13th July as the important landmark in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

This he said while presiding over a meeting of party functionaries, here at the party headquarters Nawa e Subha, Srinagar while reviewing the underway preparations for the annual observance of 13 July Martyrs day and  11 July death anniversary observance of Madre Maharban Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah. 

Among others Party MP Muhammad Akbar Lone, Senior VP Kashmir Province Muhammad Syed Akhoon, central Secretary Irfan Ahmed Shah, Central Zone President Ali Muhammad Dar, Women's wing President Shameema Firdous, Provincial Vice President Kashmir Ahsan Pardesi, Syed Tauqeer Ahmed,  Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, District President Srinagar Peer Afaq, YNC President Salman Ali Sagar, and Minority Wing Organizer JS Azad were also present in the meeting. 

While recalling the sacrifice of the 13 July martyrs, Sagar aid the day is an important landmark in the history of Jammu and Kashmir which will never go out of sight. He stated the implications of the day thickened over time and resulted in the transformation of the state from a feudalistic to a democratic one. “The brave men who laid their lives on 13th of July 1931 belonged to a generation of wisdom, and vision. They saw in darkness and despair, a vision for the forthcoming generations; they envisioned a society free from bondage, discrimination and oppression,” he said.

He further said that the 13th July marks the collective defiance of the oppressed. “The day is the watershed moment in the people’s struggle for restoration of their universal human rights. It was their valour that inspired millions of others to rise against the then despotic and autocratic regime. We observe the day to reiterate our commitment to fight evil with kindness, violence with non-violence and peaceful struggle,” he added.(KNS)
