Asks LG Admin to rethink on housing security forces in Community halls

Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference General secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Saturday visited the Dastagir Sahib (RA) shrine in Khanyar following the ongoing Urs observance days.

He paid obeisance at the revered shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) and took stock of the arrangements there.

He asked the district and divisional administration to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply, medical aid, sanitation in and around the shrine of Dastgeer Sahib and availability and supply of essentials.

“The area is expecting to witness large congregations during the Urs period and as such it would be prudent for administration and police to implement necessary traffic regulatory measures so as to ensure smooth flow of the traffic around the shrine,” he said.

While interacting with the locals, Sagar was apprised about the problems being faced by them.

“It has come to my notice that the area is witnessing large power cuts and simultaneously facing an acute water shortage. The administration therefore must put men and machinery into action and see to it that such basic human needs are provided.”

Sagar assured all support to the caretaker of shrine Syed Khalid Geelani for the ongoing Urs observance days.

On the occupation of community halls by security forces, he said, “LG administration should rethink about accommodating security forces in community halls including the one near Dastgeer sahib shrine,” adding, “Having forces housed at such community centers will increase insecurity and vulnerability of civilian population and impact the community activity in the city areas, which are already facing dire space crunch.” (KNS)
