Safina Baig unfurls Tricolour at Baramulla as nation celebrates 73rd Republic Day

Baramulla, January 26: (KNS) Reiterating that nation is progressing in all fronts and Baramulla district is no exception to it, the Chairperson District Development Council Baramulla Safeena Beigh today said that district is today recognized as an Aspirational District and the fastest developing District in the country and the need of the hour is to make involvement of youth in the progress of the district by utilizing their potential in all the sectors. 

The Chairperson made these remarks on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day Celebration 2022 at District Police Lines Baramulla here where she unfurled the tricolor besides inspected the parade and took a salute at the march past.

The march past was presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, Home guards, Fire and Emergency services, NCC and students from different schools.

While highlighting the importance of the Republic Day in the Indian history, the Chairperson said that the Nation is today remembering the sacrifices of great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Pandit Jawharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar, Subhash Chandar Bose, Sardar Vallahbai Patel among others because of whom the roots of democracy has been strengthen in India.

It is only because of the Consitutional setup and established democratic system, Baramulla is having a communial harmony where people of different beliefs and faiths co-exist, and the need of the hour is to promote brotherhood and peace among all the communities, Safeena Beigh remarked.

The chairperson underlined the need to involve the youth to take part in democratic process so that they will contribute to the national building and do their part in strengthening democratic values of the Nation. 

While highlighting the sector wise achievements made by the district, the Chairperson said that the district has shown a remarkable achievements with regard to road connectivity, and the new roads have been constructed for the ease of the general public. She further added that the construcion of Four Lanning National Highway from Srinagar-Uri has remained a long need, and the administration is very serious about this project for its completion in a time  bound manner. 

The Chairperson remarked that the district has shown a greater improvement in health sector soon after the establishment of Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla where all the required medicare and other necessary facilities are being provided to the patients. 

She reiterated that the government is committed to provide a best Medicare facilities to the people in general and informed that 5 Lakh Golden Cards have been provided to the weaker sections of the people in order to avail the cheapest medical facilities provided by the government. 


The Chairperson also said that the spread Covid-19 pandemic has been has been  controlled to a large extent which became possible due to the dedication and enthusiasm of district administration.


While applauding the initiatives taken by the UT administration towards youth empowerment, Safeena Beigh said the recently launched ''Mission Youth '' is a welcome step and more needs to be done in this regard in Baramulla district.

She informed that under MUMKIN scheme, 52 unemployed youth have been provided commercial vehicles while as under PMAY (Rural and Urban) Scheme more than 5 thousand youth have been benefitted in order to earn their livelihood besides making them self reliant. 

Safeena Beigh also complimented Jal Shakti Department, and said that under Jal Jeevan Mission 95 thousand households besides Health, Education and Panchayat institutions have been provided a portable drinking water facility.


Asserting that the Agriculture and Horticulture sector is the  backbone of our economy, and 70 percent people are associated with it for their livelihood, the Chairperson said that the government is committed to provide all the facilities to farmers where they can avail benefits from the  various government sponsored welfare schemes.

DIG North Kashmir, Ubaybaskar Billa, Principal District and Sessions Judge Baramulla, Mohd Yousuf Wani, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla,  Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Baramulla, Rayees Mohammad Bhat, DDC members, BDC Chairpersons, MCB President, Officers of Judicial administration, Officers of Army and Police, District and sectoral officers, heads of different departments besides a huge gathering of people and students witnessed their overwhelming participation.
