JAMMU APRIL 17 (KNS): Former Minister and Senior National Conference leader Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today slammed the Jammu and Kashmir government for pushing, less-educated, semi-educated and educated unemployed youth to wall, not only by vitiating the recruitment process but also by engaging a tainted agency to make selections.
“Recent scams in recruitment of Police Sub Inspectors, Accounts Assistants and Junior Engineers have shaken the confidence of the job seekers whose numbers are accumulating at an alarming rate”, Mr Sadhotra said while addressing a public meeting at Karwanda in Jammu North Assembly Constituency which was organized by Pandit Surinder Sharma Ji and presided by Capt. Purshotam Sharma Ji.
He said the government has lost the credibility and the youth their faith in the system that is dotted with frauds and scams, one after another. This is bound to cause despondency among them, especially in view of many getting over-aged in the wake of lackadaisical approach in filling up the vacant posts. The government seems to be adamant on pushing unemployed to wall by pursuing anti-youth policies. He questioned the tall claims being made about the youth engagement and said the ground situation was quite contrary to publicity and propaganda stunts by the government.
Mr Sadhotra cited the reports about the sharp rise in unemployment rate a few
months back and said if the situation continues to remain the same the future of youth will almost be blocked. This is not what they deserve; he said and blamed the BJP for indulging in populist slogans and falsehood. The fallout of the false promises and hopes has been the youth getting frustrated and taking extreme steps like drugs, he added.
The Former minister said the impression that Naya Jammu and Kashmir is in the
making stands fractured due to failure of the governments, both at the Centre and here, on all fronts. While joblessness is a real concern, the rising inflation, dilapidated utility services, erratic power and drinking water supply and road conditions are real cause of concern for the general public, he added.
Mr Sadhotra said the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be bullied by false promises and misled by high pitch propaganda, as the BJP stands totally exposed. They cannot afford to put under carpet the vexed unemployment problem as the youth are becoming restive and want a credible recruitment process on fast-track basis with no role for the black-listed agencies to play with their future. He sought accountability in the administration to solve problems facing the people.
Referring to the recent admission of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat about the border situation with China and Pakistan, Mr Sadhotra cautioned against attempts of demoralizing the armed forces, who are second to none as far as their valour is
concerned. He castigated the BJP for undermining the defence needs of the country
and referred to the ill-conceived introduction of the Agnipath Scheme reducing the tenure of soldiers as Agniveers to just four years without appreciating that this may cast shadows on their morale and commitment.
