'Need for collective efforts to take nation forward’

 SRINAGAR, MARCH 10 (KNS)A one-day seminar titled “Duties of a good citizen towards society” was organised by South Asia Center for Peace and Peoples Empowerment (SACPPE), in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) on Friday.


The event, which was held at Regional Transport Office (RTO) Srinagar, was attended by a large gathering which included public transport owners and drivers, auto-mobile dealers, operators of CSC and online Suvidha centers and others.

Shabir Ahmad Lone, a Suvidha center owner while speaking on the occasion said people in Kashmir witnessed death and destruction for three decades. “India is a democratic country where its citizens live freely. Democracy in the country can function only when its citizens have both rights and responsibilities. Rights and responsibilities are two sides of a coin that goes hand in hand with us in whatever home, society, state, or country we live in,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, ARTO, Srinagar Headquarter, Er Arif Parvaiz Shah while hailing the decision of the SACPPE to hold event on such an important theme, said every citizen is obligated to abide by the law and order of the nation, as well as perform their duties as a responsible citizen to maintain harmonious co-existence and take the nation forward.
“There is a need for collective efforts to take the nation forward. Every citizen has to contribute to this cause and then only we can make society a better place to live in,” he said.

Umar Bhat, Vice-President of the SACPPE said a G20 event scheduled in Jammu and Kashmir later this year will give a massive boost to the economy of the region. “It is the duty of every citizen to make this event a grand success which in turn will benefit every section of the society,” he said.

Bhat added that there were 32 departments which are meant for public services and the organization will tie up with all these departments in future to ensure hassle free services. “We will make tireless efforts to educate and make citizens aware about their rights and duties and for that such events will continue,” he added.

Nisar Ahmad Ganie, representative of J&K Truck Drivers Association said each citizen has a responsibility to make his or her community a decent place to inhabit. “When you are a responsible citizen, it implies that you know your duty adequately and will volunteer for numerous things that are required by the community or the society in general,” he said.

Javeed Ahmad Rather, a public transporter said that a responsible citizen has to abide by the law and order of the country.

SACPPE is a government registered, non-profit and apolitical organisation which is working for the cause of all round development of the society and promotion of education, research and learning. (KNS)
