Rubaiya Sayeed kidnapping case: Yasin Malik appears in court through videoconferencing

Srinagar, Nov 24 (KNS): Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik appeared before a special court here via videoconferencing on Thursday and cross-examined a witness in the 1989 kidnapping of Rubaiya Sayeed, the daughter of then Union home minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

Earlier on Wednesday, a hearing was held in the murder case of Indian airmen. The next hearing in the matter is to be held on December 23. Earlier, the TADA court on Wednesday issued production warrant of terrorist and separatist leader Yasin Malik while hearing the case of killing of Indian airmen in 1990.

The next hearing in this matter will be on December 22. CBI's lawyer Monica Kohli gave the information. Yasin was sentenced to life imprisonment by the special NIA court on May 25 this year. Yasin has been sentenced to life imprisonment in two cases and 10 years in 10 cases.
All the sentences will run concurrently. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 10 lakh has also been imposed on him. Yasin is also an accused in the 1989 kidnapping case of Rubia Sayeed, daughter of former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and sister of Mehbooba Mufti. The matter is to be heard on November 24 in the TADA court of Jammu.

In 1989, while returning home, Rubia Sayeed was abducted. Instead, Yasin's organization demanded the release of five militants. Accepting this demand, the government released them, but after this the investigation was started and the investigation was handed over to the CBI.
On 25 January 1990, the incident of killing of Air Force personnel took place in Srinagar city. Five Air Force personnel were killed by the terrorists.

The hearing of this case is going on in the TADA court of Jammu. Separatist leader Yasin Malik, involved in the case, is now serving a sentence in Tihar Jail in a terror funding case.
The CBI has filed charge sheets in both the cases after conducting the investigation. Both the cases are being heard in the TADA Court of Jammu. (KNS)
