Budgam, February- 07:(KNS) A team of Food Safety Office, Budgam on Monday conducted a special market checking drive in various markets of the District.
During the drive was conducted the team inspected various business outlets and checked sanitation, hygiene conditions and quality of mutton and other meat products being sold to the general public.
The Adjudicating office Budgam imposed a fine of Rs 98500 on Food business operators found violating various provision of Food safety and standard Act.
As many as ten number of Meat/chicken sellers shops were found violating sanitary and hygiene requirements under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. Complaints/Cases will be prepared for submission before the Adjudicating Officer (ADC) Budgam. While as samples from eight number of milk venders were also lifted for analytical purposes.
The District Designated Food Safety Officer said that there are strict directions from Commissioner Food & Drug Administration, J&K, Shakeel Ur Rehman that all butchers, chicken sellers and milk vendors shall maintain high level of hygiene within their premises and not to expose meat to outside hazards and maintain proper temperature control.
Besides avoid hanging mutton outside their shops, otherwise stern action will be taken against them under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.(KNS)
