New Delhi, Oct 11 (KNS): After joining the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) in New Delhi, former National Conference leader, Devender Singh Rana said that it is the right time that Jammu too should have a political narrative.

As per Kashmir News Service (KNS), addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters, Rana said that he believes that Jammu should be granted a political narrative. “The people of Jammu have their own expectations, issues and emotions in respect of democracy. The people of Jammu have always gone through indiscrimination in some matters.”

"I have been trying to be a voice for the people of Jammu region according to Jammu Declaration. I believe that the voice from Jammu region for an inclusive Jammu and Kashmir will strengthen the country and will strengthen J&K besides strengthening the ethos of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

Rana acknowledged that he was in talks with political parties, civil society and intellectuals about the Jammu Declaration. "I have faced opposition also in this regard but it was only the BJP that came forward to support the Jammu declaration,” Rana said.

He affirmed that time has come that Jammu should get a political narrative. “Jammu has the right to have a political narrative. It will be our endeavour and effort under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create an inclusive narrative for Jammu in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Earlier today, Devender Rana joined the BJP in the presence of Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Jitendra Singh at party headquarters in New Delhi. (KNS)
