Installed bureaucratic system by Centre is failing on ground: Vakil

Jammu Dec 25 (KNS) : J&K Peoples Conference Senior vice president and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the current administration has failed to do justice to the aspirations of the common masses of J&K and that there is an urgent need to restore democracy in J&K. Vakil was addressing party workers convention in Jammu. Convention was presided over by Mohan Lal Radha District President Jammu.

While addressing the gathering Vakil said that the people of J&K have been denied their constitutional right to elect a popular government to run the state of affairs. “J&K has been under the Central rule for 4 years now and apprehensions are growing in the minds of the people that GoI is not serious about holding assembly elections as early as possible and allowing the people to choose their own representatives.”

It is a matter of utter shame that in a great democracy, a region has been denied its right to choose their own government while the administration has been outsourced to bureaucrats brought in from different states and installed in Jammu and Kashmir,” Vakil said.
Lt. Governor-led bureaucratic administration has failed at all levels. Anganwadi workers are demanding release of their wages and have been protesting for weeks now and administration is watching as a mute spectator. Unemployment is at an all-time high and it is shocking in this LG-led Admin recruitments are nowhere but recruitment scams are at an all-time high. The present dispensation is restricted to meetings and rhetoric while nothing happens on the ground,” Vakil added.

Vakil stressed on the union government to start working towards holding polls in Jammu and Kashmir which are long overdue so that government elected by its own people can run the UT affairs as installed system by them is failing on the ground. He said delaying elections and restoration of statehood raises questions on claims of normalcy by Centre Government. It seems centre is only patting their back while as when question of holding elections arises centre is dragging its feet.

Addressing the gathering Sr. PC leader and ex. MP Nazir Ahmad Laway stressed upon the LG Manoj Sinha to resolve the genuine grievances of Kashmiri Pandits who have been protesting from months together now.

Besides others who addressed the gathering include Rattan Lal Youth District President Jammu and Mahila Leader Renu Bala.(KNS)
