Hope Mehta would bridge the present gap between people and the administration

Srinagar, June 02 (KNS): Urging the centre government and UT administration to immediately resolve the Chief Secretary issue, J and K Pradesh Congress has hoped that the new Chief secretary A K Mehta shall be able to deliver better and bridge the gap between the administration and the people especially the public representatives.

Reacting to the appointment of the new Chief secretary, JKPCC said according to a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS) that Shri AK Mehta belongs to the Jammu and Kashmir cadre and has vast administrative experience and overall affairs of this troubled region and politically sensitive part of the country. He has served the erstwhile State in different capacities with different popular governments too and has a better understanding of the challenges faced by the people especially the political class in the volatile region.

The party regretted that unfortunately, his predecessor failed to strike a connection with the people especially the public representatives and political class of different shades and failed to realise the great role played by the political workers for peace, normalcy and especially restoration of democracy at the cost of supreme sacrifices of their Kith and kin.

The role of the head of the administration in bureaucratic governance is much greater particularly in the given situation of the union territory. He must ensure that the administration is responsible, responsive and sympathetic to the common people and the officers should be sensitive and respectful to the general public.
The people are feeling dejected and fed up in the present scenario because of the arrogant and indifferent attitude of the bureaucratic system and the majority of the officers following the attitude of the top brass. Shri Mehta has the task to make people feel some change besides check on large scale corruption in most government offices.(KNS)
