Handwara, Nov 29 (KNS): Residents of several villages in Mawar area of Handwara have alleged continuous unscheduled power cuts, stating that electricity is not being supplied as per the notified schedule even after complete meter installation.
Locals from Audoora, Nowgam, Drungsoo, Khudi Lawoosa, Warpora, Rashwari, Puthwari and neighbouring areas told KNS that they continue to face frequent outages despite making regular payments for electricity. They said the interruptions have caused difficulties for households, students and small businesses during the ongoing cold season.
Danish Ahmad, a student from Audoora, said the recurring power cuts were affecting daily activities, including study hours.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAnother resident from Drungsoo said that if the department cannot supply electricity as per the schedule, the existing agreements should be reconsidered.
Residents also said that meters were recently installed across all villages under the Nowgam feeder, but power supply has remained irregular since the installation. They questioned the purpose of metering when scheduled electricity is not maintained.
The villagers have urged the Power Development Department to review the situation and restore proper supply at the earliest. They said timely action is necessary to ensure that consumers receive the service for which they are paying.
