Srinagar, Nov 15 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday said that reservation for Paharis announced by the Home Minister Amit Shah will not have any effect on the reservation quota allotted to Gujjars and Bakerwals.
The LG Manoj Sinha while speaking to reporters here at Jammu, he said that it will not affect the reservation for Gujjar and Bakerwal community under the Scheduled Tribes category.
The Gujjars, who already have reservation under the ST category, had apprehensions that granting of the ST status to the Paharis would dilute their quota.
He also said that there are leaders who want to suppress the rights of the Paharis. "Now is the time that Paharis get their rights," he said. (KNS)
