Urges GoI to review it, NC responsible for falling to represent people of JK

Srinagar, Dec 20 (KNS): Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&KPDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen on Monday said an initial report released by the delimitation commission did not meet the expectations of people and blamed NC for failing to represent people of the region.

In a statement issued to KNS, Hakeem said the report has been drafted without consulting the 2011 census and groundwork. The commission is an independent body and they should review it and deliver justified results.

"This report is unacceptable to people of Jammu and Kashmir as it does not represent the true essence of democratic values," he said.

The senior leader said it is unfortunate that some political parties are also responsible for such blunders. The largest party of the JK, National Conference is responsible for this as they avoided their participation in the whole process, he said.

"They (NC) had the biggest mandate but they stayed away from exercise and it was by a constitution that only Member of Parliament was eligible for the associate members of the panel but they failed at all ends. Now their participation on Monday was just an eyewash," he said.

The J&KPDF Chairman appealed Prime Minister and Home Minister to intervene in the matter and so that the delimitation commission can review their decision.

"There is a need to review the draft again and such results are acceptable to people of Jammu and Kashmir. It is injustice with the people who had many expectations from the central government," he said.

Hakeem said those who are raising empty slogans should think about what their illogical decisions have done to the lives of common Kashmiris. (KNS)
