Renowned Senior Advocate Ashok Bhan Honored with Citizen Award

 Srinagar, Dec 29(KNS): In a distinguished ceremony held in the NCR region, Senior Advocate Ashok Bhan was conferred with a prestigious Citizen Award by Mool Chand Sharma, Minister Higher Education, amid a well-attended gathering organized by Kashmir Peace Keepers (KPL).

The accolade bestowed upon Mr. Bhan stands as a testament to his extraordinary contributions to society. Specifically, the award acknowledges his unwavering commitment and leadership, exemplifying the cherished values of the Kashmiri Pandit community. His influence has not only inspired generations but has also significantly enriched the cultural heritage.

Apart from being a distinguished member of the bar and serving as a senior executive of the Supreme Court Bar Association for numerous years, Mr. Bhan has held the prestigious position of representing the Republic of India as an International law expert. He notably accompanied a Parliamentary delegation to a UN General Assembly session, becoming the first non-parliamentarian representative to address the global community on the issue of cross-border terrorism in Southeast Asia.

In addition to his legal prowess in India, Mr. Bhan is recognized as a Track-II diplomat and an expert in geo-political conflict resolutions. His expertise has been instrumental in representing various parties, including the Republic of India, at the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva. Furthermore, he serves as a distinguished fellow at the United Services of India (USI), a strategic think tank for Armed forces on Geo-political affairs in India. As the chairman of the think tank "Kashmir (policy and strategy) Group," he continues to contribute significantly to strategic deliberations.

Mr. Bhan's illustrious lineage includes his father, veteran freedom fighter Sh SN Bhan, a close associate of late Pt Kashyap Bandu ji in the socio-political movement of the Kashmiri Pandit Community. Beyond his legal endeavors, Mr. Bhan is a prolific writer and public speaker, regularly addressing audiences at universities and contributing columns to esteemed publications such as Indian Express, Sunday Guardian, and leading daily newspapers in Jammu and Kashmir. His multifaceted contributions underscore the rich tapestry of his impactful career and enduring commitment to societal well-being.(KNS).
