Remote Bandipora area gets bridge, People hails efforts of Admin

 
Bandipora, July 23 (KNS): People of half a dozen of villages in the remote area of North kashmir's Bandipora district have benefited immensely from a bridge constructed by the government over the stream. 

The bridge connecting Tangath, Pannar and other adjoining villages each other brings much relief to the people these areas. 

According to villagers, the bridge is the first of its kind to be built after Independence. They say its construction will be of great help to them and resolve many problems which they had faced over the years. They also hailed the government for the construction of the bridge.

“We wanted proper road connectivity and a bridge over the stream for long so that these villages connect with rest of the world, and today we have succeeded in our first step towards the bigger dream.”Abdul Majeed a local said. 

“Earlier we faced many problems in crossing the stream and many pople lost their lives. And now we have finally got a bridge and a road. We are thankful to the district administration especially ADC Bandipora and RDD department,” he added

Earlier, there was wooden plank that was used by the villagers to cross the stream. The people and their livestock faced serious risks while crossing it. 

 Their lives were badly affected as they were unable to fetch ration and get other important items to their villages. Even children were unable to reach their schools owing to high water levels during rains and monsoon. 

Meanwhile, ACD Bandipora Ab Rashid Dass (KAS) said that the bridge has been completed at a cost of 40 lakhs, and taking into account the concerns of the people, the work was carried out quickly.  said that the bridge has been completed at a cost of 40 lakhs, and taking into account the concerns of the people, the work was carried out quickly. 

"It was a lond pending demand of the people and about seven thousand population of these areas were facing problems due to the absence of this bridge," he said, adding that now work has been completed and in coming days it will be officially inaugurated by deputy commissioner Bandipora. 

He further said that the condition of the road across this bridge is dilapidated and the repairing work for which will be started very soon.(KNS).
