Srinagar, Apr 14 (KNS): The past 24 hours witnessed widespread rainfall across the plains in Jammu and Kashmir, while higher reaches have received snowfall on Sunday, officials said here.
An official said that the region experienced light to moderate rainfall across most areas, coupled with light snowfall in higher reaches, including Gurez valley over the past 24 hours.
The MeT forecast indicates a continuation of cloudy conditions with the likelihood of light to moderate rain and snowfall in higher elevations for the next few days. Specifically, from April 14th to 15th, the region is expected to witness widespread rainfall, with the possibility of heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated locations.
"Farmers in the area are advised to suspend farm operations until April 16th to mitigate any potential damage due to the inclement weather. Also, temporary disruptions in surface transportation are anticipated over certain higher reaches during April 14th and 15th," the Met said

From April 16th onwards, the weather pattern is predicted to transition to partly to generally cloudy skies with isolated instances of light rain and snowfall in higher altitudes. However, from April 18th to 19th, the region may experience cloudy weather with light rain and snowfall in many areas, accompanied by thunder and lightning.
"From April 20th to 24th, the forecast suggests generally dry weather, although the possibility of afternoon and nighttime thundershower activity can not be ruled out," it added(KNS)
