Leaders booked for violating SOPs, Covid Appropriate Behaviour

Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNS): The authorities have booker at least 10 PDP leaders including former minister, Abdul Rahman Veeri and senior PDP leader Sartaj Madni for violating SOPs and Covid Appropriate Behaviour for organising a rally at Bijbehara on the occasion of death anniversary of former chief minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, sources said here.

Source told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that 10 PDP leaders and workers have been booked after concerned Tehsildar had written to the concerned SHO to book these leaders for violating Covid-19 SOPs and organising a rally at Bijbehara.

They said that former minister Abdul Rahman Veeri and senior PDP leader are among the 10 PDP leader who have been booked for violating Covid-19 SOPs.

Those who have been booked include Abdul Rahman Bhat alias Veeri, Sartaj Madni and Javaid Ahmad Sheikh—all residents of Housing Colony Khanabal, Najmun Saqib, Majid Ahmad Khan, Ab Majeed Rangraiz, Showkat Ahmad Teeli, Mufti Sarwar, Arshid Ahmad Ganie and Nazir Ahmad Vaid—all residents of Bijbehara. 

Notably, on Friday PDP led by Mehbooba Mufti had organised a prayer meet at the tomb of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed at Padshah Bagh in Zirpora area of Bijbehara to pay tributes to the party leader on his 6th deatg anniversary. 

Meanwhile, as per the letter, authorities while citing Covid-19, stated that the organisers of PDP had organised a large gathering in complete violation of SOPs and Covid appropriate behaviour, which may result in spreading of Covid-19 and other related epidemic.

“As such you are requested to book these persons under relevant section of law with an intimation to this office immediately,” reads the letter. (KNS)
