‘Demands roll back of such arbitrary decisions’

Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNS): Former MLA and Apni Party General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir on Thursday expressed deep anguish over the arbitrary salary cuts and terminations of J&K Bank ATM guards with regards to the taking over of security by a new company.

In a statement issued here, Rafi Mir said that such arbitrary decisions are only adding more to the woes of the people who try to earn a dignified livelihood for their families.

“It is highly reprehensible that an adroit section of our society is being pushed to the wall even though they have been working for the past many years delivering their unstinted services. Is this the reward they should be given now?” he questioned.

Mir urged the Lt. Governor led administration to review this decision at an earliest and redress the grievances of these ATM guards whose hopes have been shattered with this unilateral decision.

“In a welfare state it is highly expedient for the government to safeguard the interest of its citizens and as per employment policy and guidelines such a decision is extremely hegemonic in nature. I hope Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha will intervene in this matter and resolve their issue on humanitarian grounds,” he said. (KNS)
