Rafi Ahmad Mir demands permanent engagement of Pahalgam youth in golf course maintenance

Pahalgam, May 16 (KNS): Former MLA of Pahalgam and General Secretary of Apni Party Rafi Ahmad Mir has demanded permanent engagement of Pahalgam youth in maintenance of golf course.

Stating that Pahalgam is full of local and domestic tourists from across the country which includes golfers also, the involvement of trained local youth is imperative for catering to the needs of growing tourism.

He said that “Pahalgam provides a world-class golf course however the casual labourers who hail from a laripora Pahalgam are working in the club for its maintenance and upkeep without being paid, they are rendering great service to the maintenance and upkeep of the golf course and their absorption in the department as permanent employees is need of the hour”.

Mir urged the J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Tourism Secretary to take a favourable view and engage them in the department for ensuring upkeep and maintenance of the golf course.

He said that “our youth possess all the required skill and training for upkeep and maintenance of the course, it is injustice with them that despite rendering services, they are not being engaged by the department”.(KNS)
