Srinagar April 16:(KNS)  Former MLA Pahalgam and General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir today called upon the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha regarding the pesky power cuts in various villages of Pahalgam.

During a daylong visit to far-flung areas of Pahalgam, Mir interacted with local masses who appraised him about the frequent power cuts happening in various villages especially during the month of Ramadan.

During a statement to the press, Mir said that the administration should not view Pahalgam through the prism of tourism only while neglecting the local inhabitants living in far flung hilly areas.

"Most of the areas in Pahalgam are facing prolonged power curtailment. The pesky and unscheduled power cuts during Iftaari and Sehri continues to haunt consumers in this holy month of Ramadan.Besides this the business community of the region is also suffering due to the faulty electricity supply. The tourists as well as the local inhabitants are deprived of basic facilities and the administration has a major role to play. I hope the Lieutenant Governor would take note of the grievances and mitigate the issue at its earliest," he said.(KNS)
