IGP Kashmir appeals militants to return their homes, start your new life

Srinagar, Jan 30 (KNS): Two militants who were trapped in n encounter in Lelhar area of South Kashmir's Pulwama district Saturday surrendered before the security forces, officials said. 

 

"Both the militants who were trapped inside a residential house surrendered before security forces after being given an offer as per the SOP during encounters. Two AK-47 rifles were also recovered from their possession," the IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar confirmed to Kashmir News Service.  

 

Meanwhile, an official said that one among the surrendered militant had suffered an injury during the gunfight which started last night. 

 

"He has been shifted to hospital for treatment," the officer said.

 

The gunfight had ensued after a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Lelhar after specific inputs about the presence of the militants.

 

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants had fired upon them, triggering a gunfight. 

 

Meanwhile, Kashmir zone police in a Tweet said that IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar has appealed to the militants to return their homes and shun the path of violence. 

 

The Tweet reads; "IGP Kashmir once again makes a fervent appeal to all misguided youth who have joined militancy, to return their homes. We will accept you with open arms. Society needs you and most importantly your parents. So return and start your new life." (KNS)
