Police foils smuggling bid, seized illicit timber in Qalamabad Handwara

Srinagar, May 28 (KNS) : Police in north Kashmir’s Qalamabad Handwara on Saturday seized a large quantity of illicit timber in the district. 

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS), that acting on a specific input a team of police headed by the I/C SHO Police Station Qalamabad Ghulam Nabi raided Forest area at Lawoosa where a large quantity of wooden logs were lying suspiciously. 

He said, that 34 number of wooden logs which were meant for illegal smuggling were seized on the spot which was dumped in a forest compartment 45 of Mawer. 

The official said that a case FIR No. 26/22 U/S 379 IPC/6 Indian Forest Act has been registered in Police Station Qalamabad, adding that, culprits behind will be booked soon.(KNS)
