Baramulla, Jan 29:(KNS) Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have arrested four gamblers and arrested a notorious drug peddler in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Acting tough against social crimes, police in Baramulla have arrested four gamblers and seized stake money from their possession. Besides, a notorious drug peddler was also arrested.

Acting on specific information, police party from Police Station Baramulla raided gambling site at Binner in the Jurisdiction of Police Station Baramulla and arrested four gamblers. 

During the course of action, Police seized stake money of Rs 9900 and playing cards from the gamblers, Police said. 

Accordingly, a cases under sections of 13 Gambling Act registered in Police Station Baramulla and further investigation set into motion, they said. 

Moreover, a notorious drug peddler namely Sayar Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Rehman Bhat, a resident of Wagum Pulwama in South Kashmir was arrested during a routine NAKA checking at Hanjiwara area of Pattan. 

Police official said, that a check point was established at Hanjiwara area of Pattan by the Police party of Police Station Pattan headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Pattan Nisar Ahmed, during the course of action one drug peddler was arrested along with 20 grams of Brown Sugar. 

In this regard, a case under NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Pattan and further investigation set in motion, he added. 

Meanwhile, police said that persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. “Community members are requested to share the information regarding crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units. (KNS)
