Pattan Sep 27 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society, Police has arrested a drug peddler in Pattan and recovered contraband substance of 4.5kg from his possession.
Official Sources Told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that Police Post Palhallan On Establishing a Nakka near Palhallan Mode Found A truck Bearing Reg. No. JKO5E 0099 with some suspicious movement Trying to escape from the Nakka checking.
Acting Swiftly On the directions of SDPO Pattan Mohmmad Nawaz Khanday Do Palhallan Sub insp. Aaeraf Tactfully Caught the Truck and on searching 4.5kgs of poppy straw was recovered. They said
Subsequently police arrested the Drug peddler and registered a case under FiR No. 276 /2022 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act, Started the further investigation.
They said during the initial investigation the accused was identified as Mohd Iqbal Ganie S/O Ab Hameed Ganie R/O Tawheedpora kalaros kupwara.
Moreover A Police official Told KNS That Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
He said Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. "Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace." He added. (KNS)
