Police arrests drug peddler in Budgam, contraband substance recovered

Ganderbal March 08 (KNS) : Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and recovered contraband substance from his possession.


A police party of Police Station Magam during naka checking at Badran Crossing intercepted a vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing registration number JK04G-3637 driven by one person identified as Farooq Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Sheikh resident of Badran. During search, officers were able to recover 250 grams of Charas like substance from the vehicle. The accused driver involved in the commission of crime was arrested on the spot and was shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of Crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 30/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Magam and investigation has been taken up.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace. (KNS)
