Baramulla February 28 (KNS): Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Baramulla have arrested 02 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.  

           A Police party of Police Station Sheeri during patrolling in village Heewan found 04 persons busy with gambling activities in orchards near under construction Hospital Building Heewan. On noticing the police party, gamblers tried to flee from the spot who were chased by the police party and 02 persons were arrested on spot. However, 02 among them managed to flee and efforts are on to nab the absconding gamblers. The arrested gamblers have been identified as Suhail Ahmad Sofi son of Mohd Ayaz & Bashir Ahmad Rather son of Mohd Abdullah both residents of Heewan Baramulla.

           Officers have also seized stake money of ?3850/- and playing cards from the gamblers. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

           Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sheeri and further investigation has been initiated.

           Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.(KNS)
