Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Budgam & Sopore

Srinagar July 03 (KNS): Police in its recent action against drug dealings have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Budgam & Sopore and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

In Budgam, a police party of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at Qumru Crossing intercepted a suspicious person. During search, 09Kgs of poppy straw concealed in a nylon bag were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Ghulam Mohammad Khan son of Ghulam Mustafa Khan resident of Qumru Beerwah. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In Sopore, a police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi under the close supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri Furqan Qadir-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Ahad Baba crossing arrested a notorious drug peddler identified as Aadil Akbar Bhat son of Muhammad Akbar Bhat resident of Reban Rafiabad. During checking, 864 tablets of Spasmoproxyvon were recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.(KNS)
