Police, security forces working on wiping-out militancy from its roots in J&K: DGP Dilbagh Singh

Srinagar, October 30 (KNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh on Sunday said the main task of police and other security agencies is to wipe out militancy from its roots in J&K. He asserted with the killing of good number foreign militants this year, the militant outfits are facing leadership crisis.

The DGP was speaking on the sidelines of Marathan-2022 organised by J&K Police which was participated by over 3000 youth. The DGP Dilbagh Singh, as per KNS said that police and other security agencies are working together to wipe out the militancy from its roots in J&K.

"Police and other security agencies are working in tandem to wipe out the militancy from its roots in Jammu and Kashmir", the DGP said. He said this year the entire security grid focussed on wiping out foreign militants.

"This year 40 foreign militants were neutralised in different anti-militancy operations. This major achievement brought down the local recruitment of youth into militant ranks as foreign militants were instrumental in alluring youth into militancy", the DGP said.

The DGP also said police and security forces are maintaining close vigil on active militants and soon they will be calmed down. "The active militants are on radar and will be killed soon", he said.

The DGP asserted that with the killing of good number of militants this year, the militant outfits are facing leadership crisis as their infrastructure stands dismantled to a large extent. The DGP further said that with the killing of foreigners the local recruitment of youth into militant ranks has shown a considerable decline. "Today's youth has understood the nefarious designs of militants and their handlers. The youth have now started to concentrate on making their future bright in taking part in elite competitive exams", he added.

He at the occasion hailed youth and general public in helping police and security forces in maintaining peace in the UT. "If Kashmir is today free from stone pelting and street protests, it is due to youth who choose to stay away from violence", he added.

The DGP held that with collective efforts of security forces, the infiltration has also shown downfall this year as compare to previous years. He added that the J&K Police will continue Marathan like events to provide youth a platform so that they will shine in their future.(KNS)
