Golden Period For India To Provide Products And Services in Ayurveda

 Srinagar March 03:(KNS) Padma Bhushan Vd. Devendra Triguna, Patron of AMAM & President of All India Ayurvedic Congress and Ayurveda Mahasammelan, proposed some of the resolutions to promote Ayurveda. Quality of the Ayurvedic services and medicine should be of utmost importance. He said UT of J&K is blessed with best location and climate , high altitude areas are best for research and preserving medicinal plants and medicines. Ayurveda should be made cost effective so that it can increase exports and compete in the global market. He emphasizes on promotion of exports and government centres to be established nearby tourist sites for promoting tourism as well and it will enhance the tourism experience as well.

 
Pradeep Multani, President, PHDCCI, while deliberating the Presidential address mentioned that the J&K can be measured by the Historical fact that the Popularity and Practice of Ayurvedic System of Healthcare was established in Ancient Kashmir. Ayurveda had been backbone of healthcare activities in past but the Universal Health coverage initiative reiterates commitment for providing health services for all the people without suffering any financial hardship. Also the universal health coverage cannot be assured merely through medicines, treatments, hospitals and insurance provisions. Today 70% of population spends out of own pockets for basic health care thus facing financial hardship but the resolutions can be provided by the activities like development / up gradation of AYUSH healthcare infrastructure, AYUSH wellness tourism and AYUSH drug manufacturing which shall be carried out through the private investment as per the eligible schemes laid out by the Central and UT Government. . Young Indian entrepreneurs are now planning a start-up could find a lot of opportunities in holistic healthcare. With a wealth of 6,600 medicinal plants, India is the second largest exporter of AYUSH and herbal products in the world added Mr. Multani.
 
Dr. Mohan Singh, Director Indian System of Medicines Ayush Union Territory of J&K, raise some issues faced by this sector in terms of infrastructure like lack of colleges and high tech equipment’s for research which is a main cause for lagging behind. He also mentioned that students have to go out of UT to study Ayurvedic subjects so he emphasizes on more colleges and universities to be opened up. He also focus on the wellness sector and provided information on wellness centres both at primary and secondary level which provide curative, preventive and rehabilitative services. Yoga centers in convergence of ministry of Ayush have been promoted to promote wellness. Sector can only flourish when gap sand deficiency in the sector will be filled in terms of infrastructure and funding. Dr Mohan addressed the various questions raised by panellists and he emphasized that all stakeholders need to work altogether so that the Ayush Sector in J&K will touch new heights, he further assured his support and assistance for sustainable development of Ayush Sector in J&K.
 
Earlier Rahul Sahai Chair PHDCCI Jammu in his Inaugural address set the context of Webinar by stating that PHDCCI tried to involve all the Stake holders for presenting their views , Suggestions that how policies should be made in synchronisation with stake holders to facilitate prospects and deal with the challenges in Ayush sector in UT. Mr Rahul Sahai further added that AYUSH healthcare has no FDI confines. It has an estimated value of 10 billion $ and will increase by 50% over a period of five years. . Sahai said Today's environment is extremely receptive to the AYUSH system of Healthcare. AYUSH is an acronym for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy. Sahai Further elaborated that AYUSH Ministry covers seven major areas, Improving access to AYUSH Healthcare, Promoting AYUSH Research , AYUSH Education , AYUSH Drugs and related matters , Creation of Awareness , Efforts for Globalisation of AYUSH Systems , Introduction of IT into AYUSH Sector . This includes Medicinal Plant Board and we should take utmost benefit out of it .He said that In spite of having Robust Ayush Policies we are not able to setup laudable Ayush Manufacturing units in J&K, and we believe that it is our duty as an chamber to present bottlenecks, pained areas and act as a bridge between stake holders and Govt for the betterment of trade, Industry and public at large.
 
Mr Baldev Singh Raina Chair PHDCCI Kashmir in his Inaugural address emphasis on practicing Ayurveda as we have forgotten Ayurveda, so we should promote its awareness and revival by engaging youth in the awareness programs, opening new colleges and research related to Ayurveda . He invited universities and Wellness Center to be set up in the UT for creating awareness among the students. He further suggested that Ayurveda should be linked with tourism which will be an added advantage for the UT. Best location and climate will yield fruitful results in research of the practices he added. While Summing up and concluding the session Mr Baldev extended the Vote of Thanks and requested the panellist to help us in coordinating more and more programmes like that so that the youth of J&K gets aware about investing in this Sector.
 
Dr. Shashi Sudan, Principal, Government Medical College Jammu, Govt Ayurvedic Medical College cum Hospital, mentioned that time has come to provide adequate weightage to the traditional Indian system of medicines and to integrate Ayurveda , Unani and homeopathy as it prevent and cure non communicable diseases. Healthy long life is an added advantage of it. Ayurveda has already proven itself in different fields of research globally and will continue to do the same. Ayurveda has great potential for curing communicable as well as non-communicable disease. So it is the time to realize its importance and make best out of it.
 
Dr. Sharada Principal Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research, gave a detailed presentation about Ayurveda learning and acquiring higher degrees and research programmes in Ayurveda and She enlisted the interventions that are required for further up skilling the Ayurveda in J&K. She mentioned the preventive and health promotive aspects of Ayurveda and Yoga are very much relevant in the present scenario of Healthcare and the strength of Ayurveda and Yoga in preventing and mitigating with such pandemics. She further added that such Webinars offers a platform where Ayurveda, Yoga experts, scientists, practitioners and professionals can come together in order to exchange their experiences and to get informed on the latest findings in Ayurveda.
 
 
Dr. Nasser Hakim Founding Director Dr. Nasser’s Unani & Panchkarma Group of Hospitals, talked about development through understanding natural law and less interference in the nature which will decrease the disease spread. He addressed some major causes of disease like genetic modification. Adulteration and preservatives present in the products which should be immediately solved. He elaborated how Panchkarma, Hijama and Unani Medicine and intervention is providing natural health care without affecting the human natural ability to fight with diseases.
 
Dr Sahil Gupta, BHMS/MD Homeopathy Jammu, mentioned about employment opportunities and placement for Ayurveda Practitioners.
 
Prof. Sheikh Bilal Ahmed Regional Director, (National Medicinal Plants Board) Regional-cum–Facilitation Center Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, shared a detailed presentation with his inputs and views on some issues faced by the industry like supply of raw material which is not adequate. He further stated that India does not utilize its full potential in herbal plants. To remove deficiency full potential has to be utilized. India allows 100 percent FDI in Ayush sector which is a great intervention for sustainable growth of the sector. India should promote its exports in Ayush products as it will provide boost in the economy. He added that J&K in particular has a diversity of some indigenous herbal plants but no manufacturing units for the same which create hurdle in growth of the sector. He elaborated the availability of various Medicinal Plants in J&K having Value and demand all over world and that can provide tremendous opportunity for Medicine Manufacturing and livelihood to farmers also.  
 
Dr. Shazia Noor Principal Kashmir Tibbiya College Hospital and Research Center, gave insight about the Ayurveda, in detail and she said that Ayurveda offers renewed access to our natural intelligence. As the original circadian medicine, Ayurveda holds the key to resolving dis-ease creating a disconnect and this ancient medicine offers the promise of a more harmonious future for the people and planet.
 
 The duration of session was for 3hours and was attended by more than 80 Participants and was watched live in both regions of Jammu & Kashmir by huge number of Ayush Entrepreunrs, Doctors and Practioners.(KNS)
