Admin must ensure adequate Oxygen, medicine supplies, high time for people to stay indoors: Vakil

Srinagar 24 April (KNS):  Peoples Conference senior vice president and former cabinet minister Abdul Gani Vakil on Saturday urged the LG administration to take all pre-requisite measures in view of the dreadful resurgence of COVID-19 so that Jammu and Kashmir is fully equipped to deal with the second wave of the pandemic and its aftermath.

In a statement issued to Kashmir news service (KNS), Vakil has said that the government must ensure adequate supply of medicines and oxygen in government as well as in the private hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir.

He asserted that there is a dire need that all pre-emptive measures are taken so that if the situation turns worrisome, the state apparatus is well prepared to deal with it.
“These are the troublesome times but thankfully, the situation in Jammu and Kashmir hasn’t gone out of control yet.
The administration has ample time to stock medicines, keep the hospital beds ready and ensure the scarcity of oxygen doesn’t arise at any cost, especially in district hospitals. The paucity of oxygen in a landlocked region would mean an apocalypse. It is high time to identify the loopholes in the health system so that the same could be addressed on priority,” he added.

Vakil also implored the people to strictly follow SOPs and avoid social and religious gatherings at this point in time. "People must understand the gravity of the crises and it is their responsibility also to not make Jammu & Kashmir another Delhi where the situation continues to remain grim. Jammu & Kashmir can be saved from the deadly virus with the active participation of people and the administration.
The religious leaders also should urge people to avoid congregational prayers in huge numbers in jam-packed spaces and make them aware about the importance of following SOPs during the sacred month of Ramadan,” he said.(KNS)
