Appeals political parties not to participate in elections without restoration of special status

Appeals political parties not to participate in elections without restoration of special status

Srinagar, Sept 21 (KNS): Former PDP leader and former vice-chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Cements Engineer Nazir Ahmad Yatoo said that democratic government is necessary but the position of Jammu and Kashmir under the Constitution of India was distorted.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), he said that if the political parties participate in the election as a Centrally Administered Territory, it will become a nightmare for the people, especially the coming generations.

Yatoo, while appealing to all political parties, said that “If we make this decision together, we will not participate in the elections until the state status and special status is restored."

He said that if political parties participated in the election in UT, people would not forgive them in any way.

Yatoo said it was a testing time for other parties, including the Congress, the PDP, the National Conference, the People's Conference, Apni Party, and the PDF, and the eyes of the local people were fixed on the decisions of these parties.

He said that the statements of some political leaders show that they are ready for the elections in the same capacity, which could prove to be a big mistake.

"We want to endure hardships so that we can set an example for future generations," he said. (KNS)
