PAGD is now an alliance of convenience rather than an alliance of ideology: Vakil

Jammu March 08:(KNS)   J&K Peoples Conference senior vice president and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the sole objective of the main constituent parties in PAGD is to gain power and safeguard their interests at the cost of the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Vakil while welcoming more than 50 women from different parties in Jammu into the PC said that the people of J&K have realised the hollow promises of NC and PDP to fight for identity and special status of J&K.

According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), "PAGD was ostensibly formed to fight for the restoration of Article 370 and statehood of J&K. A considerable time has passed since its creation however we are yet to see a clear roadmap for fulfulling its stated objectives. The NC and PDP are speaking in different voices and in the interest of their respective parties and not in the interest of J&K. Their only reason to stay together is to grab power in the Assembly elections. PAGD is now an alliance of convenience between parties rather than an alliance of ideology.  The people of J&K can clearly see through their double speak and will no longer be fooled by their hypocrisy", he added

Vakil asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are beginning to see the deceit of these two parties and are now looking up to the Peoples Conference as viable and credible political force.

"A number of prominent leaders, youth and women joining the party demonstrates the rising popularity and widespread acceptance of the leadership & policies of the PC among the masses. We have no doubts that the Peoples Conference will emerge to become the strongest voice of the people of J&K, especially the youth. We will zealously work under the leadership of Sajad Lone for the welfare of our people," he added.

The meeting was attended by senior PC leaders in Jammu including Mr. Mohan Lal and Ms. Sangeeta among others.(KNS)
