Srinagar, June 18(KNS): Baramulla Police launched Operation Drug Free Baramulla and apprehended three drug smugglers, including the notorious Muzamil Majeed Bhat, alias Hashim, who was on the list of Most Wanted Drug Smugglers.
An official said that the operation, conducted with precision, resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of narcotics during naka checking at various locations
"Under the supervision of SDPO Pattan, Sh. Mohd Nawaz, and assisted by PSI Aeraf Neyaz, IC PP Palhallan, the police arrested Mohd Aqib Dar, son of Mohd Yousuf Dar from Khambiyar Palhallan, during naka checking at Hyderbeigh Pattan. Despite attempting to flee, Dar was tactfully apprehended. Upon a thorough search, law enforcement officials discovered 25 syrups of Codeine Phosphate in his possession, leading to his immediate arrest," he said.
Furthermore, at Khanpora Baramulla, under the guidance of DySP Hqrs Baramulla, Sh. Sajjad Bukhari, and with the assistance of PSI Rayees Ahmad, Offg. SHO PS Baramulla, Muzamil Majeed Bhat, alias Hashim, was apprehended during naka checking. Attempting to evade the authorities, Bhat's escape was short-lived as he was tactically detained. A search of his person led to the discovery of approximately 140 grams of a substance resembling Charas, which was promptly confiscated.
In another operation, conducted at Tarhama Kunzer, under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg, Sh. Imtiaz Ahmed, and assisted by Inspr Nisar Ahmad, SHO PS Kunzer, the police raided the residence of Rizwan Ul Zaman Wani, son of Ali Mohammad Wani. Acting on specific information regarding narcotics, law enforcement officials seized a significant amount of approximately 7 kilograms of Poppy Straw-like substance from the premises. Wani was immediately taken into custody.
"Cases have been registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station Pattan, Baramulla, and Kunzer, and investigations are now underway to gather further evidence against the accused peddlers," he added.
