One more notorious drug peddler arrested in Kupwara, contraband substance recovered: Police

Kupwara, Mar 21 (KNS): Kupwara police on Monday claimed to have arrested on more notorious drug peddler from Chalgund area of Kupwara district. 

 
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that Kupwara Police, late in the evening yesterday, was successful to apprehend one more notorious drugs peddler namely Aadil Hussain Bhat son of Ab Majid Bhat a resident of Gonipora, Hyhama while he was caught smuggling Charas like contraband substance from Chalgund area of Police Station Kupwara.  
 
The statement reads that continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, a team of Kupwara Police led by SHO Kupwara Mohd Rafiq under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Rashid Younis after developing a specific information laid a trap to apprehend Aadil, a known drugs peddler.
 
"During the naka that was laid to apprehend Aadil, Police team was able to intercept him and after following the personal search procedures, 300 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from Aadil’s possession. During initial questioning, Adil disclosed that he was on way to Kupwara to sell the drugs to the addicts of the area to earn money."
 
As per the statement, a case FIR No.58/2022 under section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered in PS Kupwara against the peddler and some more arrests can not be ruled out in the case.
 
"Kupwara Police appeals the general public to cooperate in sharing the information related to drug smuggling, peddling and abuse so that appropriate steps can be initiated and a drug free environment is created," it reads. (KNS)
