Demands release, shifting of Kashmiri detainees languishing in jails outside J&K

Srinagar, Dec 10 (KNS): On World Human Rights Day Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum has demanded that human rights must be honoured by all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir with the consideration for release and shifting of Kashmiri detainees.

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), release and shifting of Kashmiri detainees be considered who have been languishing in different jails and detention centers outside J&K.

JKCSF chairman, Abdul Qayoom Wani said that people of J&K are of versatile nature comprising political, non-political and religious leaders have been languishing in jails for years now and nobody talks about their plea and future.

“Back home their families have been in utter pain agony and distress going from pillar to post for want of justice but of no use as there has been no substantial outcome of their struggle so for. The voices that were previously raising alarms for these detainees too have been muzzled and now hardly we see and hear any voice raiser for the sufferers in the contemporary Kashmir.”

Wani said that a fair trial should be run in all cases promptly to grant justice to these detainees. “Notwithstanding the detention without trial and having no cases against them all such detainees should be released without any further delay. All detainees should be shifted to Srinagar so that their families can meet them and they can spend time well according to local environment suitable to their health,” Wani said.

JKCSF demanded that those detainees against whom there are no cases should be released, and for those who have cases should be promptly resolved and elderly and patients and women should be shifted to Srinagar besides political prisoners should be released under the democratic set up. (KNS)
